Last year it seams that I’ve discovered some kind of interest on destroyed things which prolonged into 2007. To me a wrecked vehicle is an interesting and challenging aspect of scale modelling although this topic means action, fear and teariness - in nearly all cases.
I could already make some experiences with my knocked out T-34 last year and I so decided to start my 2nd attempt on a wrecked vehicle which should be much more devasteted. This time it is about a german PzIV Ausf. H during late WW2 somewhere near polish-russian borderline. A direct hit of a huge artillery shell caused heavy damages at front area of tank, surviving crew members bailed out and abandoned the wreck hastily. Some time later (maybe short after war's end) a little boy with his soccer ball came along and is astonished watching this for a while.
The idea of this vignette is showing the contrast in scale between the wrecked dead tank and the little boy as civilian peaceful and innocent counterpart. This figure I've sculpted completely this time.
Making wreckages means working at different assembly groups at the same time to transport an as most as possible conclusive and – hopefully – realistic impression to the viewer. This project took me 3 ½ months at all. Maybe a long time but since we have a little baby now I haven’t so much time for scale modelling anymore. Anyway, I've tried to be 'creative destructive' (in lack of having better words) with this project and I hope you like my interpretation.
